A safe, collaborative space to work through what matters with a trained
professional.

Clinical counselling is a collaborative, confidential process that gives you a safe space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and goals with a trained professional. The most meaningful change happens when you have a strong, trusting relationship with your counsellor.
Your counsellor begins by talking through the counselling process and informed consent, a document that outlines your rights and responsibilities and theirs, including the limits of confidentiality and payment agreements. From there, the first session is used to develop a sense of what you would like to address, which may include setting goals and an overall focus. It is also a good opportunity to assess the fit between you and your clinician.
Counselling is collaborative, and you have the right to end it at any time. Ultimately, the goal is for you to feel you no longer need to return. The number and frequency of sessions depend on what you are working through and the focus you set together, so check in regularly with your counsellor about how you are doing and whether you would like to rebook.
Your counsellor walks you through informed consent and the limits of confidentiality, then helps you develop a sense of what you would like to address. It is also a chance to assess whether you and your clinician are a good fit.
There is no fixed number. The frequency depends on what you are working through and the focus you set together, and the goal is for you to reach a point where you no longer need to return.
Yes. Clinical counselling is a confidential process, and your counsellor will clearly explain the limits of that confidentiality during your first session at our Downtown Vancouver clinic.
