Areas of Focus
Life can be challenging and often we go through experiences, both internal and external, that leave us struggling and feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, and alone. Perhaps you have considered coming to therapy before but the thought of it feels daunting or even terrifying. As a therapist, I hope to create a place for you to feel welcomed, accepted, and understood so that together we can take on some of the challenges you might be wrestling with. My aim is for you to find hope, healing, and transformation through our work together so that you may rediscover joy and no longer have to face these challenges alone.
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) and hold a Master of Counselling Psychology (MCP) from Adler University and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology from the University of British Columbia. I have experience working with clients through a broad range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief although I work primarily with people who are looking for healing from past relationships or within their current ones. This involves working with them on an individual level to resolve relational conflicts, understand reoccurring patterns, and heal enduring pain between family members, partners, coworkers, friends, and any other person who has come into their lives.
I tailor my approach to the unique needs of each individual but fundamentally, it is Emotion-Focused and Attachment-Based. This means that I believe healing comes from the experience of safe emotional connection within the therapeutic relationship, which leads to improved emotional regulation, healthier relationships, and a greater ability to cope. I also draw from Person-Centred Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy to further support you in this process. If you feel that we would be a good fit or you would like to learn more about me and my approach, I invite you to contact me at connect@cherylynrolston.com
